“ Some of the best BBQ in the DC metro area, by far. They take the BBQ, but not themselves, seriously. So many options for meats and cuts and sides and sauces and daily specials. Serving local beer, great bourbon and whiskey options, and a self-serve bbq sauce bar. Burnt ends, pastrami, and turkey are all tremendous, and the classics like brisket, pulled pork and chicken are bbq perfection. Food comes out super fast, live music available some nights, creative daily specials are posted on social media along with beer or liquor pairings. You can get holiday specials like whole turkeys, and they do a good carryout and catering business as well. It is a no frills, very casual, local spot with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. You literally cannot order badly here. Everything you get will be tasty! ”

“ I happened to be in Purcellville for a meeting and decided to look up a local bbq place to try afterwards. The restaurant looked like a good local bbq place. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff member recommended I try the Mac and cheese for my side. I don't usually get that but I decided to try her suggestion. It was good and worth getting. I was excited to try their burnt ends because not all bbq places have burnt ends. I'd give them 4 stars. They were smothered in sauce that was a little overpowering and spicy. The best part of the meal was the cornbread! Great place! ”

“ Monks always hits the spot. If you're a BBQ lover this spot is a must try! You will fall in love. They have quality meats, prices are decent, and you get a good portion. We did a platter to split with the family. It was plenty of food for all of us to dig in and feel satisfied. It's a casual little spot but big enough for huge groups/large families like ours. There's both indoor and outdoor seats. There brisket and burnt ends are really good The Mac and Cheese was a great side The BBQ sauces are good there's tons of options Overall, I'll keep coming back. ”

“ Love this place. It's second only to The Pit Stop in my opinion. My family and I have eaten here many times over the years. My fiancée and I joined my family for a birthday dinner here the other night. The food did not disappoint as per usual. We ended up ordering the Whole Hog since there were a bunch of us (I think 14 people?). We also had some people order sandwiches and other things as well. The bbq was on point. The ribs specifically had a little sweetness from the rub used on them. The burnt ends were phenomenal and I highly recommend them. They were saucy and tender and totally worth it. The Mac and cheese is the best side in my opinion. But the Cole slaw is highly underrated if you ask me. It's more of a vinegar base versus mayo and I liked it a lot. The service here is friendly and quick. We ordered as much as we did and it still came out within about 10 mins. It's an order at the counter and they bring it out to you kind of place but nothing wrong with that. The ambiance is definitely cozier. They currently have the Christmas tree of whiskey bottles by the front door. It's an awesome little decoration! They love their whiskeys here. Highly recommend eating here if you haven't. It's sure to leave you wanting more. ”

“ While visiting, my friend told me about the best bbq he's ever had! He took me to Monks Bbq. I was not disappointed. I am a strict critic of bbq because I do my own bbq from smoke to sauce. The smoke flavor of the meat is rich and perfect. Brisket was juicy. Mushrooms were amazing. The BURNT ENDs, a must have!!! We sat at the bar, the service was great. The place is huge, plenty of seating with the smell of smoked meat rising from the large smokers on the side. Truly traditional smoke bbq! Don't miss it. Worth the drive. ”

“ Yelp doesn't lie, this place lives up to the hype as the best BBQ meat in the area. We got there mid-afternoon on Saturday and were able to get a table on the patio but they have indoor seating (including a full bar) and outdoor seating. Service is very friendly and efficient, you order at a stand when you walk in and we got our food very quickly. The pulled pork was excellent and was a large portion. I enjoyed their various sauces, especially the raspberry Chipotle, but their meat is so good it doesn't even really need sauce. Sides were tasty too, mushrooms were interesting and not some thing I've seen elsewhere. Collards were just right and I enjoyed the non-mayo cole slaw. Finally the cornbread was interesting and almost like a dessert as it had a custard like consistency in the middle. The meat is of course the star here but the sides aren't bad either. Purcelville is a trek from much of the DC area but this place is worth the trip and I'll be back here again. ”

“ This bbq place is first rate. You order inside. Take a number and go sit. We sat outside with a view of the Blue Ridge a stone's throw away. I ordered a half rack with side of Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. The ribs were fall off the bone but held together for the perfect bite. There is sauce and a dry rub. The dry rub was a perfect blend (I'm guessing) of brown sugar, a little salt, red pepper and black pepper among other things. It was the best rub I've ever tasted! To top it off we split a banana pudding. Delicious! My sister had shredded bbq which was super tender with sauce, potato salad and cornbread. The cornbread was super moist and almost tasted like a dessert. ”

“ Great bbq spot!! I went to this place on a weekday and there plenty of seats available. You can choose to sit at the bar, high top, or one of their tables. You place your order at their counter and pick your seats. They have a station with the sauces, my favorite with the house sauce. I tried the burnt ends (pictured). They were perfectly done and tasted delicious!! A must try when you visit. They came with a side of Mac and cheese (you choose your side) a side of cornbread. I also tried the brisket, but it was a little too salty for my taste. Aside from that, I will say this place is perfect!!! Another thing to note is how friendly the staff is!! Solid A!!! ”
